13 ways to evaluate link prospects and find quality

It’s important to look for quality links to your website. A small number of links from quality sites will bring you much more benefit than thousands of links from poor quality sites. But how do you judge what a quality site is and the value of a link from it? Different link builders will have different priorities.

My Criteria break down into three groups as:
* The site itself
* The site's presence on the web
* The site's policies

The site itself:
1. Is the site relevant?
2. Is the content well written?
3. Has the content been updated recently?
4. Does the site link out to many other sites?
5. Are there real people on the site?

The site's presence on the web:
6. Has the site got good inbound links?
7. Does the site score well on Google PageRank, Alexa, Compete, etc?
8. Is the site well-established?
9. Does the site perform well on keyword searches?

Their policies:
10. Are they easy to contact?
11. Do they publish resources or reviews?
12. Do they invite articles or guest posts?
13. Do they interview people for opinion or case studies?

The Process Of Blog Writing.

As SEO specialists, we live by not only working to create relevance, but by enabling the search engines to identify it too. Relevance needs context through informative, useful content. Content is THE critical component of the Internet. Blogs serve to provide the content that the engines assess for relevance. Blogs aren’t going anywhere for a good while yet..

A thousand monkeys writing for 1,000 hours won’t write Shakespeare – they’ll create a thousand random, low quality postings that don't give readers a comprehensive understanding of the topic, “even if those readers suffer through all 1,000 blogs.” Blogs should be carefully crafted, as should articles, as should all components of your SEO campaign.

Blogs that gain trust, authority, high search engine placements and huge traffic largely through high quality inbound links. Whilst throughout blogworld there is certainly what seems an endless supply of poorly written pseudo impartial blackholes and vanity publishing disasters, all washed down with anonymous invective, it shouldn’t detract from the fact that some of the most informative and influential content on the web is delivered through blogs. Great writing, great content. It’s the examples of excellence that we should aspire to and be inspired by. It’s these examples that serve as ‘best practice’ examples of how we at SEO Consult ideally like to deliver client blogs.

Visit "http://www.bbc.co.uk" Is that a form of blog? It’s certainly got many of the right attributes; it’s well written, well designed, aware of its audience, frequently updated, extensively linked, invites and receives huge audience input. Interesting. Inspiring.

We should apply experience and expert skills to all aspects our blog strategy. From strategic input, to copy writing, technical development and blog submissions, we should support these important aspect of business blogging every step of the way.

How to Get Most out of From Your Analytics?

Analytics can be very confusing and overwhelming. Most business owners recognize the importance of them but easily get bogged down with all the data. It's possible to make them more understandable. To do so, businesses should start by establishing goals for their analytics which help you clarify the data. Goals will vary from business to business, based upon individual business needs. There are certain metrics that every business should be aware of and track. For starters, all businesses should pay attention to their conversions. The conversion rate is the percentage of visitors who take a desired action.
By tracking conversions, businesses know what pages are performing, where traffic is coming from, and more. This information helps businesses make improvements, which ultimately, leads to more sales. Businesses also need to track their referrers. Where are your visitors coming from? It could be that they're coming from Google, Twitter, advertising, and other places. By knowing this, businesses can apply more time and energy on the areas that are driving the most visitors.
Bounce rate also play important part while setting goals that all businesses should track. This'll show how many people leave a site after visiting a single page. A high bounce rate is not what businesses want and could signify that your sight is cluttered or ambiguous. With that you should know about is abandonment, what causes a visitor to leave? By tracking abandonment, businesses can see where and when the visitor deserted his action.
Search keywords are another important item businesses need to track. Because they are conducting very specific queries, the traffic that comes from search engines could be the most valuable visitors that websites receive. These visitors are more likely to action than visitors that just happen to land on a site. Businesses need to know what keywords send traffic to their site and how they rank for them in order to make necessary improvements.
If businesses apply the information gathered from these basic, they will have a greater understanding for what their visitors want and what improvements they need to make.

Are you getting the most out of your analytics? If not! Feel free to contact for more information.

Don’t Forget!!! Basic of SEO

If there is anything true to search engine optimization it is that when you tend to obsess over one particular method or action eventually it gets your website into trouble.

Here are some things you should never be obsessing over when it comes to your SEO program:

Pagerank: Obsessing over Google Pagerank could eventually get your website into hot water. What I mean by this is that people tend to get so focused over increasing that little number in the tool bar that they lose focus around actually growing their business online. Google Pagerank sometimes makes people try to cut corners which eventually will come back to bite you.

Content: Content is still probably one of the most important aspects to growing your business online but it must be good quality and strategic content. Paying someone 50 cents and article to write 500 and dumping them into the search results is not good quality content nor is it strategic. I often bump into websites where the owners took the approach of shoveling 1,000 articles into the website as each individual pages and the only thing that happened was a loss of rankings.

Backlinks: There is no reason why you need 5,000 directory submissions for your company. There are about 50-100 good quality directories and that is all you really need. Chances are the search engines won’t even recognize all the others. Don’t obsess over directory submissions because it is a waste of energy to put all your focus into this practice.

Search engine optimization should always be strategic and planned and you never want to beat one or two efforts into the ground. Search engine marketing can often times make entrepreneurs and website owners obsess over certain efforts causing more harm than good.

Just worry about making efforts that will consistently grow your brand and your business......

Importance of content in SEO.

Web content refers to any written material on a website, including the titles, headings, and subheadings - any information that is displayed on a web page.

Content plays a very important role as far as Search engine optimization is concerned. Content is believed to be king of SEO. It is very important to have search engine friendly content to attract visitors to your website. Content writing is important because content is the lifeline of any website, and the effectiveness of content can determine its success or failure.

We shuld create effective and search engine friendly content for website. We should know exactly how to write web content that attracts the search engines and keeps your readers satisfied that they found your site.

You may think "who really reads this stuff" and that is a great question. Believe it or not they do, and they may read most if not all of your content to be fully satisfied that you are what you claim to be.

It is due to this importance that are now hiring professional content writers to develop content that is fresh, informative and reader friendly. However, the role of these writers does not end here. They also have to create the content of a website in such a way that it satisfies the norms of all major search engines. An optimized content will enable the website to rank higher in search engine results, thus increasing its visibility.

One of the most important criteria of effective content writing is that the content should by relevant and informative. If the content on a website is not supporting the main purpose or theme of that website then it would not remain effective.

Advantages of Article Marketing

Article submission is a great way to share information online. However, there are both advantages and disadvantages from it. Learning all you can about it will certainly help you to take the benefits and to avoid the common pitfalls.
First, there is a wealth of information online. With free article submission, you aren't sure you will get to your target market. How do you make sure when they enter keywords into search engines that it is your material they will find? You can increase that chance by using keywords and SEO practices in your materials. Finding that balance takes time so you do need to learn about it before you start to submit to the article directories.
It can be time consuming to write new materials all the time. However, you have to remember that it is a free method of advertising. If your business doesn't have a huge budget for marketing, then you want to use all the means you can to get noticed. If people don't know you have products or services available then you won't be successful with selling them.
There are many article directories out there that you can submit to. It can be time consuming to go with all of them. However, you can benefit from searching online for the top directories.
One advantage though is after you have a quality article, you can rewrite it so that it says the same thing but in different words. Then you will have another great article for free article submission.
Keep in mind that the different rules can vary, so you need to keep a list of information. This will help you with making sure you don't violate the rules. You should never place the same articles on different free directories though or it will just been seen by search engine robots as duplicated materials.
Credibility is essential when you use free article submission. Take your time to verify information because if you don't it could cause your business to be seen as one that can't be trusted. Take your time to create great links in your resource too. Then people that read your information can choose to click on it and go to your website.
Now that you are well aware of the advantages of free article submission, you can take the best from it and strive to make it work for you. Remember, there are always consumers online looking for information. If you have information out there that they can benefit from it can help you to establish credibility.

Ways to Promote Your Business With Search Engine part-II

11. Begin a Business Blog:- Want links to your site? Begin a business blog on your website, hosted on your own domain. If you offer excellent content and regular industry comment, people are likely to link to it, increasing your site's PageRank. Consistency and having something to say are key. Learn more in the business blogs section of our Research Room (www.wilsonweb.com/search/cat.php?querytype=category&subcat=ms_Blogs). If you have a blog on a third-party blog site, occasionally find reasons to talk about and link to your own domain.

12. Submit Your Site to Trade Organization Sites:- Some directories focused on particular industries, such as education or finance. You probably belong to various trade associations that feature member directories. Ask for a link. Even if you have to pay something for a link from the organization, it may help boost your PageRank.

13. Request Reciprocal Links:- Find websites in your general niche and request a reciprocal link to your site. Develop an out-of-the way page where you put links to other sites -- so you don't send people out the back door as fast as you bring them in the front door. Your best results will be from sites that generate a similar amount of traffic as your own site. High-traffic site webmasters are too busy to answer your requests for a link and don't have anything to gain. Look for smaller sites that may have linking pages.

14. Promote Your Video, Images, and Audio Content:- Google's "universal search" displays not only webpage content, but also often displays near the top of the page relevant listings for images, videos, local businesses , and audio clips. Therefore, consider creating such content appropriate to your business and then optimizing it so it can be ranked high enough to help you. For example, if you were to get a top-ranking, informative video on YouTube (www.youtube.com) that mentions your site, it could drive a lot of traffic to your site. For more information, search on "optimizing images" or "optimizing videos."
Linking Strategies

15. Write Articles for Others to Use in Websites and Newsletters:- You can dramatically increase your visibility when you write articles in your area of expertise and distribute them to editors as free content for their e-mail newsletters or their websites. Just ask that a link to your website and a one-line description of what you offer be included with the article. This is an effective "viral" approach that can produce hundreds of links to your site over time. You'll find lots of information on how to do this from the most popular article marketing site, EzineArticles.com. When you create a free membership account, they begin sending you instructions and ideas each week.

Ways to Promote Your Business With Search Engine part-I

Here are few Ways to Promote Your Business with Search Engine.

1. Write a Keyword-Rich Page Title. Write a descriptive title for each page -- rich in keywords you want people to find you with -- using 5 to 8 words. Remove as many "filler" words from the title (such as "the," "and," etc.) as possible, while still making it readable.

2. Write a Description META Tag:- Search engines include this description below your hyperlinked title in the search results. The description should be a sentence or two describing the content of the webpage, using the main keywords and keyphrases on this page. Don't include keywords that don't appear on the webpage.

3. Include Your Keywords in Headers (H1, H2, H3):- engines consider keywords that appear in the page headline and sub heads to be important to the page, so make sure your desired keywords and phrases appear in one or two header tags. Don't expect the search engine to parse your Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) to figure out which are the headlines -- it won't. Instead, use keywords in the H1, H2, and H3 tags to provide clues to the search engine.

4. Position Your Keywords in the First Paragraph of Your Body Text:- Search engines expect that your first paragraph will contain the important keywords for the document -- where most people write an introduction to the content of the page. You don't want to just artificially stuff keywords here, however. More is not better. Google might expect a keyword density in the entire body text area of maybe 1.5% to 2% for a word that should rank high, so don't overdo it.

5. Include Descriptive Keywords in the ALT Attribute of Image Tags This helps your site be more accessible to site-impaired visitors (www.w3.org/WAI/WCAG20/glance/) and gives additional clues to the search engines. The ALT attributes do help get your images ranked higher for image search (see #12 below).

6. Use Keywords in Hyperlinks:- Search engines are looking for clues to the focus of your webpage. When they see words hyperlinked in your body text, they consider these potentially important, so hyperlink your important keywords and keyphrases. To emphasize it even more, the webpage you are linking to could have a page name with the keyword or keyphrase, such as blue-widget.htm -- another clue for the search engine.
Promoting your website through search engine optimization (SEO) helps business.

7. Make Your Navigation System Search Engine Friendly:- You want search engine robots to find all the pages in your site. JavaScript and Flash navigation menus that appear when you hover are great for humans, but search engines don't read JavaScript and Flash very well. Therefore, supplement JavaScript and Flash menus with regular HTML links at the bottom of the page, ensuring that a chain of hyperlinks exists that take a search engine spider from your home page to every page in your site. Don't set up your navigation system using HTML frames (an old, out-dated approach); they can cause severe indexing problems.

8. Create a Site Map:- A site map page with links to all your pages can help search engines (and visitors) find all your pages, particularly if you have a larger site. You can use a free tools, XML-Sitemaps.com (www.wilsonweb.com/afd/xml-sitemaps.htm) to create XML sitemaps that are used by the major search engines to index your webpages accurately. Upload your sitemap to your website. Then submit your XML sitemap to Google, Yahoo!, and Bing (formerly MSN), following instructions on their sites. By the way, Google Webmaster Central (www.google.com/webmasters/) has lots of tools to help you get ranked higher. Be sure to set up a free account and explore what they have to offer.

9. Develop Webpages Focused on Each Your Target Keywords:- SEO specialists no longer recommend using external doorway or gateway pages, since nearly duplicate webpages might get you penalized. Rather, develop several webpages on your site, each of which is focused on a target keyword or keyphrase for which you would like a high ranking. Let's say you sell teddy bears. Use Google Insights for Search (www.google.com/insights/search/) or the free keyword suggestion tool on Wordtracker (www.wilsonweb.com/afd/wordtracker.htm) to find the related keywords people search on.

10 . Get Y Traffic:- Submit Your Site to Key Directories, since a link from a directory will help your ranking -- and get you traffic. A directory is not a search engine. Rather, it is a hierarchical listing of sites sorted according to category and subcategory. Be sure to list your site in the free Open Directory Project (www.dmoz.com), overseen by overworked volunteer editors. But if you don't get listed right away, don't be impatient and resubmit, or you'll go to the end of the queue. A link in this directory will help you a lot.

What Everyone Should Know About Website Statistics.

It's important to track a few key statistics on a regular basis and not get lost in the sea of numbers. What are the most important?

  1. Visitors (new and repeat)
  2. This is the number of people who have come to your website for the first time or who are coming back for a second time. This is important, because this is the size of the pool of people from which you are trying to get leads. The bigger the number of visitors, the more potential for you to get leads.

  3. Leads:
  4. This is the number of people who self-select on your website and do something to give you their contact information. It could be signing up for a demonstration, requesting a whitepaper, or viewing a video, but there must be a form where they give you at least their email address and sometimes more information as well. This number is critical since your website leads are where your sales come from.

  5. Conversion Rate:
  6. This is the percentage of your total website visitors who become a lead. So, if you had 200 visitors to your website today, and you generated 3 leads, that would be a 1.5% conversion rate. Most people will tell you that a 1-2% conversion rate is the average for a b2b website. The conversion rate is important because it is telling you how efficient your website is at turning visitors into leads. Remember, you can double your company's number of leads by either doubling your website traffic or doubling your conversion rate.

  7. Keyword Search Rank:
  8. For most business websites, the most efficient traffic and leads will come from organic search. This is the traffic that comes from people searching on Google, MSN and Yahoo and other engines and finding your website in the results. This traffic is not completely "free", since you need to work on your website to really maximize it, but it is usually much more cost effective than other sources. You need to know how you rank in the search engines for at least a few key terms related to your business, and you also want to know how that rank is changing over time - are you moving up or down - since that will determine the future success of your website visitors and leads.

  9. W3C Validation:
  10. Testing your web pages in browsers is an absolutely necessary process for building any web page. It allows you to see what others can see, and often you will notice mistakes in your HTML code because of the symptoms they cause in browsers. This often includes forgiving errors in the source code. Improperly nested elements, unclosed tags, unrecognized parameters - these are all errors in HTML code that might affect your web page's display in your favorite browser.

  11. MetaTags Analysis:
  12. Title Tags - A title tag tells both users and search engines what the topic of a particular page is. Ideally, you should create a unique title for each page on your site. If your document appears in a search results page, the contents of the title tag will usually appear in the first line of the results Choose a title that effectively communicates the topic of the page's content.

Description Tags - A page's description Meta tag gives Google and other search engines a summary of what the page is about. Description Meta tags are important because Google might use them as snippets for your pages. This gives the user clues about whether the content on the page matches with what visitor is looking for. Description should accurately summarize the page's content.

Keywords Tags -Always use page content/theme relevant keywords.

  13. Website Grade:
  14. The free tool at www.WebsiteGrader.com gives you an excellent overview of the marketing effectiveness of your website, including things like your Google PageRank, number of inbound links and other key statistics. What is nice about the Website Grade is that it summarizes this all into one number from 1 to 100. You should know what your website grade is and track it over time to make sure you improve (or if you already get a good score, to make sure you don't slip.

Free One way link or Directory submissions Tips

As everyone is aware of one way links. Directory submission is one of the known way to get free one way links. Following are some useful tips which I found helpful getting one way links while doing directory submissions for a website:

1. Manual Directory Submission: Submit your website manually to directories. Do not use any or automated techniques. Using automated techniques your website may ban or may consider as spam. Not only your link approvals will decrease day by day as a spam but also you will lose your website ranking, so avoid such things.

2. Use a domain base unique email ID : Avoid using free email ids like Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail etc. Use unique email ids, use an email id containing your domain name. It helps webmasters of directories to trust on you that you are not a spammer.

3. Category Selection: Very first step to directory submission is to pick your targeted keyword and chose a appropriate category. You can search in Dmoz.org for category and follow this category while submission. Submitting in website or keywords related category will help you to be more visible. If you are able to imitate the editor's style when describing your web site, you can increase the chance that your site will be accepted and your site description will be unaltered.

4. Meta Tags Writing: Do not include more keywords in title, Try to Write a single keyword to which you are targeting and also in Description do not use many keywords try to write a meaningful and grammatical correct and try to describe your website not business. The length of Title and Description should be as per Google webmaster guideline.

5. Quality Directory Submission: There are a lot of directories out there, Submit only to quality sites. 100 quality links will return more benefits - and do it faster - than 1000 lesser-quality links. It is best to pick some high-quality sites which are actually likely to list your website.

What Google Buzz ? May Google Offer Buzz Independently From Gmail.

Google Buzz was announced on February 9, 2010.

Google Buzz is perhaps the most generic "Social Sharing" service launched to date Users can enable the service in their Gmail accounts to share status updates, photos, videos and more with the group of people they e-mail most often.

Google is now to compete in the social sharing , along with Facebook, Twitter and others. Friends can comment on these updates or "like" them to express approval. . Google goesing Social with Google Buzz. It is usefull to SEO or SMO, and Buzz,s key features are Auto-following, Fast Public and Private Sharing, Inbox integration Just the good stuff.

we know good technology has value, but leading social networks they require network effects, may be that’s why Google offering it whith gmail. As Google says it may allow people to participate in Google Buzz without having it integrated within Gmail, in addition to offering a combined Gmail service. That may be a welcome move from users of both products, especially in light of the substantial privacy concerns voiced this week about Google Buzz.

One issue with Buzz, that may be difficult for companies to have profiles that match their trademarks, or famous people might have similar issues. Indeed, anyone who is established on one social network may discover that their name on the new Google Buzz network is long gone, becouse “Buzz” uses names that linked with Gmail accounts. By offering a version of Buzz separate from Gmail, Google could address some of these issues.

Horowitz, Google’s VP of Product Marketing said that Google is considering separating Buzz from Gmail, so that people can participate independently from email. The company might also allow people on Buzz to claim new names and redirect anyone seeking them at their old profiles to the new locations.

How Do Search Engines Work?

This is a very interesting question! Do you know that how a “Search Engine” works, because every search engine wants to keep their secret with them. As a SEO you should have the knowledge about How a search engine works? If you know how a Search Engine works then you can make your proper plans accordingly and you can easily optimize your site. In 1994 Wide Web Worm was the first web search engine, who claim that they have more then 110,000 index web pages and web accessible documents.
We have seen several improvements in Search Engines Program. In these days we have Crawler-based search engines. Which includes the following three major elements:-
1. The spider or Web Crawler or Robot,
2. The index, and
3. The software.
Each has its own function and together they produce Search Engine Results Pages

1.) The spider:- The term “Spider“ is also known as web crawler or robot. A search engine spider is an automated program that reads web pages and follows any links to other pages within the website. This is often referred to as a site being "spidered" or "crawled". The popular search engine spiders are Googlebot (Google), Slurp (Yahoo!) and MSNBot (MSN Search). Spiders start crawling web pages when you list your site with their search engine database, with a list of page URLs it visits these pages, crawling the code and copy, it adds new pages (links) that it finds on the page to its index. The spider returns to the sites index on a regular basis, scanning for any changes. How often the spider returns is up to the search engines to decide. Website owners do have some control in how often a spider visits their site by making use of a robot.txt file. Search engines first look for this file before crawling a page.

2.) The Growing Index:- An index is like a giant catalogue or inventory of websites containing a copy of every web page and file that the spider finds. If a web page changes, this catalogue is updated with the new information. The latest figure released by Google is 8 billion indexes pages. Spider sometimes takes a while for new pages to be added to its index. Thus, a web page may have been "spidered" but not yet "indexed." Until a page is indexed - added to the index - pages will not be available to those search engines for search engine Page Result (SERP).

3.) The Performing Search Engine or Search Engine Software: - At the end of the day a search engine is a software program designed to sift through billions of pages recorded in its index to find matches to a search query and rank them in an order that it believes is most relevant. Each search engine has developed a set of rules or mathematical equations, called algorithm. This algorithm differs between engines, that’s why different search engines may produce different results for the same query. Exactly how a particular search engine's algorithm works is a kept secret, but some general rules are clear that are often used to increase a website's ranking performance. After applying this algorithm to their index of sites, a search engine comes up with a list of the most relevant results according to the search conducted. This is referred to as search engine optimization. If we want to get good SERP so we have to follow the particular search engine guidelines. These guidelines are related to On Page and Off Page optimization.

There are so many ways by which we can increase Traffic for our Website. Some of them are mentioned below:

Quality and Original content on your site: - This is the most effective way for increasing traffic to your website. Provide good information about your Products and Services Offer. Write content that is helpful and useful for site visitor. You need to offer visitors the information they need to achieve a goal, solve their problem. Provide regular updates of your Products and Services on website and Keep it always fresh and update it for repeat visits. If you are not able to update site content regularly then write “Articles” and provide fresh information about your Products or Services.

You know keywords help people to find your website when they are searching on the Web. Make sure that the keywords go naturally with the Content and your Products or Services. You know that keywords are not only used in the headings and page names but also into "meta". One thing don’t do stuffing with keywords and do not write any hidden text, this will result in a very low search ranking for your website

Get linked: - Link Building is a very important part of SEO. Trading links with other websites that are closely related to the subject of your website can bring you more website traffic. There are three types of Link building (earlier I had defined about these ways). Provide useful resources on your website, resources that make people to feel thankful that you put in the time and effort. You also trade banner ads, half page ads, classified ads, etc which is known as Social Media Optimization.
